Over the past few weeks, we’ve rolled out a series of updates that enhance your experience on HackMD. From effortless editing to MathJax and Slide Mode updates, you’re now able to more deeply build out documentation for your team and community.

Introducing “Edit from here”

Imagine you’re reading through a comprehensive document and you come across a section that needs editing.

With this new feature, you can simply select the specific text you want to modify, click on “Edit from here,” and watch as HackMD swiftly responds by opening the editor and automatically scrolling to the precise location of your paragraph. Your cursor is in place and ready for edits.

This functionality is a game-changer for those handling extensive documents, collaborative projects, or anyone who values accuracy and efficiency in their editing process.

Gone are the days of tediously scrolling through pages of content to find the exact spot that needs revision. “Edit from Here” simplifies this process, allowing you the freedom to focus on refining your work without the hassle.

Enhanced MathJax and Slide Mode capabilities

MathJax, a critical solution for representing mathematical and scientific symbols, has always been integrated into HackMD.

But in our latest V3 update, MathJax has undergone substantial improvements in speed and stability. This ensures a smoother and more reliable rendering of mathematical equations and scientific notation within your documents.

Similarly, Reveal.js, a powerful tool for crafting slides using markdown, has received a substantial upgrade.

With this update, HackMD has broadened its support for Reveal.js, introducing several new features to the popular Slide Mode that enhance the presentation creation and viewing experience:

  1. Gradient Slide Backgrounds: Users can now add gradient backgrounds to their slides, adding a touch of visual appeal and customization to their presentations.
  2. Jump to Slides: This feature allows for seamless navigation within presentations. Users can easily jump to specific slides, improving the overall presentation flow and accessibility.
  3. Scroll View: HackMD now supports a scroll view within presentations, enabling users to scroll through slides. This functionality provides a presentation experience reminiscent of platforms like Evernote, offering greater flexibility and ease of navigation.

These enhancements aim to enrich your presentation creation process, making it more dynamic, engaging, and tailored to your preferences. Whether you’re delivering lectures, workshops, or sharing ideas, these updates empower you to create visually captivating and interactive presentations effortlessly.
